From 2011 to 2014, Nichole studied and worked abroad in Sydney, Australia, with the worldwide known Hillsong Church as a part of their Production and Worship Team. During her time there, Nichole learned many skills. She applied those skills throughout the week during their weekly and weekend church services, including their large significant events, College Chapels, Youth and Adult Church Services, and off-campus events. In 2015, she attended Fullerton Community College, which allowed her to achieve a Recording Production Certificate and an AA-T in Music. *Please see the photos and descriptions below of the various areas where Nichole studied, worked, volunteered, and interned.

Broadcast Assistant & Engineer

For the first two years in Sydney, Australia, Nichole worked with the production team during their seven church services on weekends. She worked with the Front of House Engineer, the Monitor Engineer, and as a Stagehand. Nichole was also a team member with their worship band; she was able to perform as a bassist, guitarist, or vocalist during their church worship services.

During Nichole’s third year, she took on a new role: Broadcast Engineer and Studio Production Assistant. As a Broadcast Engineer, she mixed and recorded Sunday evening and Thursday morning services—these live audio streams were broadcast worldwide. At times, the broadcast had connectivity and communication between the various campus churches in Australia or a different nation such as Los Angeles, USA; London, England; and many parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Studio – Tracking / Pro Tools

In the HUB Studio, Nichole worked as a studio apprentice, assisting the many projects that the Church requested. Projects include weekly worship team rehearsals, audio tracking for radio ads, post-production editing, recording and tracking parts for music demos, Church Service Productions, and various audio production projects. One of Nichole’s projects was tracking/recording an original song for singer-songwriter Michelle Cooke. *See photos and short audio clip below.

Overdubbing

In 2014, Hillsong Music recorded their “No Other Name” Album. The album was recorded live at Hillsong Conference in Sydney, Australia. Nichole was a part of the post-production team, helping to record overdub tracks for the album.

Masterclass

In 2014, Nichole was a part of the team that developed the curriculum and recruitment of attendees for an Audio Production Masterclass. This class taught the fundamentals of Recording, Mixing, and Producing a song.

Fullerton College Recording Project

At Fullerton College, Nichole completed four semesters of classes to obtain a Recording Production Certificate. During her first semester, Nichole brought in local artist Deyvon Harper to record a demo of his original songs. The students set up and positioned microphones, tracked the vocals, acoustic guitar, and Deyvon’s looper pedal, and completed a rough demo mix for the artist to take home. *See photos and short audio clip below.

Fullerton College & Cal State L.A.

At Fullerton College, Nichole completed 32 units of required courses and electives to achieve a Music Recording Production Certificate. She also completed her AVID Pro Tools User Certification at Fullerton College. The last photo shown is Nichole’s Music Technology classroom at Fullerton College; for two (2) semesters, she worked as a Music Technology Teacher’s Assistant as part of her internship. Being a teacher’s assistant allowed Nichole to teach music technology lessons and help students individually with class projects. California State University of Los Angeles required many recording production courses as well. A few of those courses were Recording Techniques, Music Tech III, and Music Composition for Media.
